Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th in 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 with her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound, as well as her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out July 21st the 21st of July, 2015. In the following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. On December 8 it was revealed that she had contracted to Dreamville Records. She was featured on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. On the 21st of October in 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017 and also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she appeared in two songs, with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it came out on the 5th. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. Two additional singles were also released by her on November 13, titled Pedigree and No One. The singer appeared alongside Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16th, and released the song as a solo single on her debut album. In February of 2019 her music video to the song was released. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views within a week. In December 2018, she performed as a supporting act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
